LAPT Sao Paolo – Day 2 report

The end of the second day of the LAPT’s Sao Paolo Main Event saw Alex Manzano from Chile emerge as the chip leader. Manzano’s rise was a highly spectacular one, as it came on the back of a wave of sets he managed to flop towards the end of the day 2 action.
Manzano played well all through the day. Early on, his selectively aggressive style of play paid off well and later, he seemed to have secured Lady Luck’s unconditional support through some sort of a shady agreement.
The bottom line was that when the action was called, as the field had played down to the final 24, Manzano’s 1,189,000 stack was unequalled among the survivors.
Manzano’s flurry of flopped sets claimed the tournament lives of no fewer than 3 players towards the end of the day. Alexis Zervos was his first victim. Zervos had a flush draw which failed to fill up against Manzano’s top set.
Neuri Jose Campos followed Zervos to the rail, his A,K no match for Manzano’s pocket Qs, which proceeded to catch another Q on the flop for the set. The third victim of the tag team of Manzano and Lady Luck was Joao Torres who got his chips into the middle on pocket Ks against Manzano’s pocket 4s. Enter another 4 on the flop and Torres was done too.
Manazano wasn’t the only one to have everything going his way on day 2 though. Joao Bauer did well too, finishing second in chips, with 1,089,000. Day 1 chip leader Leandro Csome managed to stay near the top of the chip counts as well. He finished with about 950k chips, after he had flirted with the 1 million mark several times through the day.
PokerStars’ Humberto Brenes and Daniella Zapiello made the final 24 as well. All the other PokerStars affiliated players have unfortunately faded away.
