2012 is in the bag and don’t worry: we’re done recapping the best and the worst moments of the old year. It is now time to look into the future, and even though predicting is nowhere near as accurate as hindsight, we’d like to fire a few of our own 2013 poker dimes and nickels into the ether, so here goes:
In 2013, Full Tilt’s US players will be repaid their monies. Yes, we know, the way the US government works when it comes to such issues is quite snail-paced, and it did take lawmakers an 11th hour decision to pass legislation regarding the impending fiscal cliff, the impact of which cannot even be mentioned on the same page in magnitude as the Full Tilt poker funds fiasco, but this matter is in the hands of the DoJ’s Southern District of New York and we are quite confident that the people in charge, who found the time to track down and to bust the international Ponzi-scheme that full Tilt Poker was, will be keen to take the matter full circle and to finally reimburse the US public.
Real money online poker will become reality in the Garden State. This one is a hit and miss prediction based solely on New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s attitude towards generating an online gambling boom in his home state the land-based casinos of which have been bleeding customers and suffering for years now. The state’s lawmakers have made it clear that they want to see online poker legalized and regulated. Even
PokerStars are in on the deal: it has been rumored that the online poker operator is looking to purchase a land based casino, thus crafting its return to the US market. Although Christie had vetoed a similar initiative, it would make perfect sense for him to sign this one into law.
