On Thursday, the 4th edition of
PokerStars’ popular MicroMillions series kicked off, with more than 223k players bellying up to the virtual tables. The massive starting fields pushed past the guarantees in pretty much every one of the 6 events of the first day, creating a total prize-pool of $680k, and blowing the advertised $350 guarantee clean out of the water.
The biggest profit of the day ended up in possession of a player known as Swarm255, who won event #2, the $1+Rebuy NL Holdem Turbo one, taking down a top prize of $18,537. The smallest top prize of the opening day was awarded by event #1, the $0.11+Rebuy NL Holdem Hyper-Active one, the winner of which, Zoultanberg, took home $2.488 for his efforts. The event featuring the biggest buy-in was event #4, the NL Holdem Zoom Turbo one, to which players had to contribute $5.5. A total of 29,792 players thought it worthwhile to participate in this
poker tournament. The winner of the event, yana-11k, took home $10k, after a 4-way deal at the top chewed a bit off the projected share of the winner.
Several PokerStars pros chose to play on day 1 of the Series, among them Tyler Frost, who aims to be the MicroMillions IV leader board winner. He made his plans public in a blog post a while ago, in which he said he would take part in a minimum of 80 events. If he does manage to accomplish his rather lofty goal and wins the MM IV leader board, Frost will follow in Marcin Horecki’s footsteps. Horecki was the one who won the MicroMillions III leader board, by playing in 86 events. This time around, Horecki said he wouldn’t play as many events as he’s promised a few people he wouldn’t compete in the MicroMillions IV at all.
