Online poker action – Antonius bounces back, Cates loses

Full Tilt Poker’s tables. Ilari Sahamies was one of the players particularly ravaged by Lady Luck lately. He bounced back this past week though, winning around $120k in a 320-hand session. Patrik Antonius found himself in the black as well, at the end of 7 sessions totaling 923 hands. He walked away with a profit of more than $332k, and that was enough to make him the biggest winner of the mid-week.
Phil Ivey made the winners’ list again, through a characteristic hit and run session of 94 hands. He generated a profit of about $83k.
The other end of the spectrum was represented by Daniel Cates, who managed to drop $249k, thus shooting to the top of the losers’ list.
Just about the only good thing in the 927 hands that Cates played was the fact that he chipped up Antonius nicely. He was in fact responsible for most of the money the Finn booked over the above said period.
One of the more interesting hands the two played was one which resulted in a $220k pot finding its way into Cates’ pockets. The money went all in on the turn of a board of 5c,Jd,Qh,2h.
Antonius had a top pair and a straight draw, but little did he know that his opponent had already secured the hand on the flop, which gave him a set of queens.
Despite the nice pot that he raked in, Cates went on to finish well under the red line for the week.
Ilari Sahamies had been haunted by bad luck for a good while, but things turned around for him last weekend. He made most of his money off Di Dang.
The other major winner of the above discussed period was Marcello Marigliano, who generated a profit of $143,000.
