Online Poker Action – Blom Wins Big

With the
WSOP out of the way, high stakes professionals can now focus on the online games again. For some, that simply means firing up the computer again and logging in, for others, it’s a tad more complicated.
PokerStars’ resident pro, Daniel Negreanu has already set up residence in Canada, from where he can play online undisturbed. His move set off an entire exodus: several online professionals like Phil Galfond have already set up shop north of the border, and several others are itching to follow. With all that in mind, it’s probably only a question of time till the nosebleed stakes traffic returns to normal.
Until then though, new names continue to emerge in our weekly online poker reports.
Davin Georgi is one of these relatively fresh faces, and he burst onto the scene in a more than impressive manner: he finished last week as the biggest winner, having logged a $329k profit over 18.8k hands. He didn’t just win a lot, he was one of those who put in highest number of hands last week.
Only one player outperformed him in that respect: Viktor Blom. Blom logged 31.9k hands, generating a profit of $242k.
Of course, when some folks win this much, there have to be other folks out there who lose comparable amounts. Those folks were Ben Sulsky and Ville Vahlbeck last week, who lost $328k and $151k respectively.
Many people out there may not yet know Davin Georgi. Following in the footsteps of fellow gamer Bertrand Grospellier, Georgi made the move from Warcraft 3 to poker. Most of his last week’s winnings came from the $25/$50 PLO tables, where he took on Viktor Blom. The biggest pot he took off the Swede was a $42k whooper.
Isildur1 in the meantime had more success against Sulsky, whom he relieved of $328k. The biggest pot of the seven-hour long session was a $98k one, which ended up in Sulsky’s possession. That was the only substantial headway Sulsky managed to make through the entire session though.
