Online Poker Action – D’Auteuil, Sahamies Stick Hands in Cookie Jar

The high stakes online poker action has entered something of a slump after the PokerStars WCOOP wrapped up and the after-tremors settled. Of course, the fact that the live poker circuit got rolling big time in Europe may also have something to do with the subsiding of the action at the virtual felt, but over the last few weeks, there have been definite signs of revival: Ilari Sahamies, one of the leanest, meanest nosebleed stakes pros before Black Friday and after, has carried much of the burden, but other started chipping in too.
Last week, it was Phil D’Auteuil’s turn to join the Finn at the top of the winner’s list. D’Auteuil ended the week as the biggest winner: he took home a $637.9k profit, which he scraped together over the course of 7,347 hands, in 58 different sessions. Sahamies finished second, with a $207.1k profit, which took him 1,261 hands to amass.
Representing the other end of the spectrum was Richard Lyndaker, who lost $474k at
PokerStars, earning himself the not exactly coveted title of biggest loser of the year. There may have been a case of the tilts involved in Lyndaker’s meltdown too though. The pro has appeared increasingly frustrated in his twitter posts this year. In one such post he fired up in the wake of the above said disaster, he admitted that the bad run from which he had suffered since the beginning of the year was getting to him and that he would consider quitting online poker if things didn’t change for the better in the next two weeks.
Brian Townsend has probed the high stakes tables a bit last week too. He took on Romain Arnaud at the $100/$200 PLO tables and he successfully dropped $156k.
The majority of D’Auteuil’s profits came from the $200/$400
NL Holdem tables where he took on “Liang Yu”.
