Before we officially open the 2011 nosebleed stakes cash game season here at PokerStop, it’s only decent that we take a look back at 2010 to give you a better idea on how the most notorious high stakes maniacs faired when the line was drawn.
The biggest winner of the year was Daniel Cates, who ended up with a 5.5 million profit for 2010. He is followed by Andreas Torbergsen, who generated $3.7 million. Tom Dwan’s $3,6 million was enough for 3rd place, while Phil Ivey’s $3 million put the
Full Tilt Poker pro in 4th. Di Dang finished among the winners as well, with $2.1 million. Jared Bleznick made the winner’s list too with $2.09 million.
The losers’ camp is once again populated by names poker fans are used to seeing on the casualty list. Brian Townsend spearheads this year’s list, with a loss of $4.12 million. Ilari Sahamies lost $2 million as well, only barely surpassing cadillac1944, who dropped $1.8 million. Despite his recent feel-good run, Gus Hansen made the list yet again, after he made $1.67 million vanish in 2010.
Isildur1 is yet again on the losers’ list too, together with Cole South, Justin Bonomo and Sami Kelopuro.
Ashton Griffin and Alexander Kostritsyn flew into the winners’ camp under the radar as well.
As the New Year kicked off, players were a bit reluctant to return to the grind, but eventually things did get rolling on Monday. The biggest winner of the year so far is Di Dang who made a profit of around $405k, mostly off cadillac1944 whom he played at the $300/$600 PLO tables.
Most of the biggest pots ended up in Dang’s possession, and the whole thing may well have degenerated into a disaster for cadillac1944, had it not been for a chop in the biggest pot the two played for. Jared Bleznick and Daniel Cates finished in the black as well.
