There is no denying that Tom Dwan had a tough start to his 2013. He dragged his feet showing up at the tables and even when he did, he pretty much only lost money. At one point, he was $531.3k in the red, but that was before the sensational run he put together over the last few days. Over a 6 day period, he amassed no less than $2 million in profits, so currently, he’s $1.76 million in the black for the year. Dwan’s winnings came from
Full Tilt Poker’s tables, and now that the action has flared up over there yet again, it has become obvious that a new age in nosebleed stakes action has started, or in fact returned: the age of the multi-million dollar swings and record breaking pots. In order to put the newly shaping-up trend into perspective, one has to consider that last year’s biggest
online poker winner, Ben Sulsky, finished with a profit of $3.6 million, while Dwan took down $2.29 million over just 6 days of action.
Dwan logged quite a few hands to achieve the fabulous score: 20.7k to be exact. Other players made the winners’ list too, but their individual hauls were all overshadowed by Dwan’s. Second place on the winners’ list went to patpatpanda, who took down $670.8k. Another player who did well, was Patrik Antonius, who ended up with a profit of $449.4k.
Kyle Ray and Hac Dang made the winners’ list as well.
The opposite end of the spectrum was represented by Ben Sulsky, the biggest online winner of last year, who dropped a staggering $1.46 million. Phil Ivey had a rather disastrous week as well: he ended up with a loss of a little over $1 million.
