The midweek high stakes action finally saw Gus Hansen’s heater hit a nasty old snag. For a coupe, of days there, it looked like his legendary bad luck had returned. The effects of his downswing were quite impressive indeed: he dropped $496,337, becoming the biggest loser of the week.
The other end of the spectrum was represented by Phil Galfond’s performance: Galfond managed to amass profits totaling around $700k, and a lot of that money came from Hansen himself.
Galfond’s most profitable run of the midweek came on Tuesday, when he played against Gus Hansen, Van Marcus and Scott Palmer. After 2,195 hands, he found himself $584,754 above the red line.
Most of that money came from the $300/4600 PLO tables, where Galfond played Hansen. The biggest pot that he took down from the Great Dane was a $168k monster, which landed in Galfond’s pockets after his set held against Hansen’s top and bottom pairs.
In the said hand, the money went all-in on the turn.
Another monster pot the two played for was a $93,393 one which went to Galfond too.
Although he made great money at the PLO tables, Galfond expanded his offensive to the 2-7 draw tables too. During the month of March, he made an impressive $1.6 million at the 2-7 draw tables, far surpassing other draw specialists like David Oppenheim and Abe Mosseri.
On Thursday, a new high stakes player popped up at
PokerStars, logging 457 hands at the $100/$200 PLO tables and generating a $143k profit. Known only as “Bamboo100” the new player has instantly grabbed the attention of the community. The biggest pot that Bamboo100 pocketed was a $67,412 one.
The biggest winner of the last week was by far Phil Galfond. He was followed by Bamboo100 and Ben Sulsky.
The biggest loser was Gus Hansen. Matt Hawrilenko, Van Marcus and Abe Mosseri made the casualty list as well.
