Online poker action – Hansen back above the red line

Gus Hansen has definitely been one of the most interesting characters of the nosebleed stakes
online poker scene lately. The Great Dane was pretty much used as an ATM by his peers last year when nothing seemed to click for him. The worst thing about it all was he kept on losing despite making the right play time after time.
In the first few months of this year, the momentum seemed to have shifted in his favor. He ground together profits of about $1.8 million in the first couple of months, only to return to his losing ways later and to drop almost all that money in March.
During April, he crossed the red line again. May marked yet another shift in momentum for the Dane, as he managed to once again move his balance into the black, amassing winnings of about $926k so far.
An avid 7-game player, Hansen kicked off his winning streak at
Full Tilt Poker’s 7-game tables. PLO carries special appeal to everyone at the nosebleed stakes these days, and Hansen is no exception, so he soon moved on to the $500/$1,000 cap PLO tables, to play against Cole South, Ashton Griffin, Tom Dwan and Ilari Sahamies.
Hansen scored his most profitable session on Tuesday, when he pocketed around $680k at the PLO tables. Most of that money came from Cole South who dropped $575k to the Great Dane. The biggest pot of the Hansen-South confrontation was a $80k whooper which ended up in Hansen’s possession after he made a Q-high flush with a couple of re-draws.
Relegated to playing smaller stacks in an attempt to yet again return to the highest stakes, Isildur1 showed up at Full Tilt Poker last week too. He took on jungleman12 at the $50/$100 tables, only to have the stakes bumped to $100/$200 later. The mystery Swede walked away with a profit of $25k from this one. The largest pot he won was a $51k one, far off the mark of some of the more consistent pots he’d played back in his heyday.
The following day, Isildur1 locked horns with URNotInDanger2, and drew the short end of the stick that time, ending up $138k in the red. At this pace, a return to the nosebleed stakes may yet have to wait for the Swede.
