Online poker action - Hansen back in the black

The action slowed to a crawl at
Full Tilt Poker’s nosebleed stakes tables this past weekend, but some of the savvy professionals still managed to eke out a profit. Gus Hansen was one of these scrappers, most of his profits having come from DrugsOrMe, a player busy squandering the money he’d made during a hot run a week or so ago. The other notable match-up of the weekend was the Patrik Antonius – Daniel Cates one, from which the Finn emerged victorious.
The Hansen – DrugsOrMe confrontation took place at the $500/$1,000 Capped PLO tables, and it ended in an upset for DrugsOrMe, who had been on the receiving end of several such losing sessions for the few days preceding the Hansen confrontation.
The biggest pots of the session were a pair of $40k whoopers, both of which landed in Gus Hansen’s pockets. For the first one, his top two pair got the better of DrugsOrMe’s pair of Aces. For the second one, Hansen made a Q-high flush to dash the hopes of his opponent, who had an overpair and a straight draw which failed to materialize.
The missing catalyst from the Durrrr challenge and thus the “culprit” for the snail-like pace of the series is apparently Tom Dwan, at least that’s the conclusion one would draw from the fact that while no challenge action has been logged lately, Dwan’s two challenge rivals found the time and the energy to rip into each other. Antonius and Cates locked horns at the $500/$1,000 NL Holdem tables.
Antonius walked away with a profit, having won the largest pot of the session too, a $198k monster, when his A,Q beat Cates’ K,Q on a flop of Q,9,8. The two players ran the turn and river twice and there was still no help for Cates.
Hansen finished as one of the biggest winners of the week, together with Rafi Amit and MagicNinja.
