Online poker action – Hansen loses, Galfond wins

Last week, the online poker action at
Full Tilt Poker’s nosebleed stakes tables was rather tame. There were few monster pots and few players put large chunks of their rolls into harm’s way. Gus Hansen was one of those who did though. His on-fire run reduced to a footnote in the 2011 poker history books, the Great Dane dropped a significant amount of money yet again: he lost a massive $383k in only 666 hands. Phil Galfond, who’s been riding a heater of his own for the last couple of weeks, represented the other end of the spectrum. He won $407k, having played 1,751 hands.
NoPasaran saw action too, and it’s safe to say Tuesday was his day. He took on a selection of high stakes regulars at Full Tilt’s $300/$600 tables and he took huge pots off Cadillac1944 and trex313. He played Gus Hansen too later and he took quite a bit of dough off him as well.
One of the first massive pots that NoPasaran pocketed came from trex313. The two shoved all their chips into the middle on the flop, with trex having a pair of 9s and a straight draw against NoPasaran’s set of Aces. The turn and the river cards were run twice and NoPasaran’s hand held both times to land him the $154k whooper.
In another hand during the same session, he flopped a full house and got lucky enough to find an all-in caller for it in Cadillac1944 who had a positively abysmal week. That hand meant another $145k monster for NoPasaran.
Against Hansen, NoPasaran played for even larger pots. One of these monsters was a $220k one, which ended up being split, even though when the money went all-in, Hansen had the advantage.
A few hands later, a perfect hand situation developed, with two flushes competing for the pot. NoPasaran walked away with $148k when the dust settled.
The biggest winner of week was Phil Galfond who took money from Hansen too. The biggest loser was Gus Hansen whose cooler continued.
