Online poker action – Hansen’s slide continues

Gus Hansen was one of the main protagonists of the high stakes cash game action at
Full Tilt Poker in recent days. The Great Dane had experienced something of a steep slide lately and he was hell-bent on turning things around. He was the player who spent the most time at the virtual green felt, but he continued to bleed chips despite his efforts. Other big guns to see action were Tom Dwan and Scott Palmer, who tore into each-other at the $300/$600 PLO tables.
The heavy-weight battle led to several 6-figure pots, the biggest one of which was a $228k monster. The hand started out with the typical preflop give and take, which got plenty of chips into the middle by the time the flop fell. The 10,9,4 rainbow flop saw Palmer fire out a bet, which was promptly called by Dwan. The J on the turn drew another bet from Palmer, in response to which Dwan fired out a raise. Not to be outdone, Palmer re-raised it and Dwan shoved all-in. He then showed a 4-card diamond flush, while Palmer had an A,K, Q,Q for the nut straight. The river card was run twice, and both times a spade fell to deny Dwan.
A little bit later on, another monster pot developed. The $161k pot ended up in Palmer’s possession after he hit a full house. Dwan did land some nice 6-figure pots of his own too, the biggest one of which was a $184k whooper, which landed on his side of the table after he too made a full house.
Hansen mostly played against Dwan heads-up at the $300/$600 PLO tables. Far from being able to recoup his losses, the Great Dane dropped several monster pots to his opponent. One of the biggest such pots was a $121k one, which landed in Dwan’s pockets despite the fact that Hansen made a full house and a straight (on the second run), for it.
The biggest winner of the week was FakeSky, who amassed a profit of $386k. The biggest loser was world1969, who dropped $418k.
