Online Poker action – Isildur1 vs Hastings reloaded

Ever since Isildur1 returned to the limelight, the high stakes online poker action has gained tons of momentum at
Full Tilt Poker. His presence seems to stimulate the pace of the action both directly and indirectly.
After he begun last week dominating opponents left and right and amassing a huge stack of winnings, things turned south for Isildur1 by the end of the week as he dropped $1.6 million to Phil Galfond. Eventually, he barely managed to finish the week with a $200k profit.
This week, he set off to recover some of those losses, by playing Brian Hastings and Ilari Sahamies heads-up at Full Tilt’s PLO tables.
The result of the attempt was nothing short of disastrous. When the dust settled, the mystery Swede found himself a further $1.8 million in the hole.
On Monday night, Isildur1 took on Hasting at 6 $500/$1,000 PLO tables, for a session that would log 2,776 hands. At the end of it, Hastings was up $1,445,177, quite possibly having pushed Isildur1 to the edge of bankruptcy once again. To further add to the speculations surrounding the match-up, Hastings took about $900k above the normal EV, which made railbirds believe he was still able to secure an unfair advantage over the Swede somehow.
There was no shortage of monster pots fought over by the two protagonists. The largest pot of the session weighed in at $486k, and it went Isildur1’s way. The Swede hit top two pair on the flop, against Hastings’ wrap draw, which failed to fill up on the turn and the river.
After the Hastings trouncing, Isildur1 came back for an encore. He took on Ilari Sahamies at $500/$1,000 PLO and he dropped another $300k to him, at the end of a 1,210 hand session.
Gus Hansen, everyone’s favorite ATM, who had also seen some nice profits at the beginning of the year, returned to his old losing ways this weekend. He dropped no less than $805k over the weekend at Full Tilt’s $1,500/$3,000 7-game tables. Hansen’s legendary bad luck seemed to have returned as well: he lost one pot on the nut boat when an opponent showed down quad deuces.
Following last week’s bustle, the top online poker winners of the year are now Tom Dwan, Alexander Kostritsyn and NEKOTYAN.
Hansen, South and Isildur1 are the biggest losers.
