Online Poker action – Isildur1’s second coming?

The online poker world is abuzz with excitement in the wake of the appearance of a new high stakes mystery player, known as “Odonkor1” at Full Tilt Poker’s nosebleed tables. Because the player in question is Swedish, everyone was quick to see Isildur1’s second coming in him, although quite frankly, this guy may not be much of a “mystery” character at all. “Odonkor” has been known to be the user name of Swedish professional Joel Nordkvist, a player who has earned several awards for his online poker antics. The reason why Odonkor is not that widely known in the high stakes online poker circles is that in the past he focused his efforts on Betfair and the iPoker network. In recent days though, he apparently decided to hit Full Tilt’s tables, and so he did.

A NL Holdem specialist, Odonkor has amassed around $850k in profits since last Saturday, and he has thus become one of the top online poker winners of last week. Last Saturday, he kicked off his Full Tilt Poker run through a $100/$200 NLH heads-up match with Isaac Haxton. A total of 583 hands were logged in a session which lasted about an hour and a half. At the end of it, Odonkor1 had $156,500 to show for his efforts.
His initial success spurred him on, and he returned to action two hours later. He hit the same stakes, taking on URnotINdanger2 heads-up in a 1,124 hand session. At the end of it, he was $159,000 above the red line. The largest pot of the session was a $69,000 one which landed in Odonkor1’s pockets after his straight made short work of his opponent’s top pair.

Odonkor1 returned to action on Sunday, when he booked another winning session against Sami Kelopuro. He took $179k off the Finn, then proceeded to take $57,000 off “cerutten”, at the end of a 316-hand session.
On Monday, Jungleman12 was on Odonkor1’s menu. The two locked horns on the same stakes and at the end of a 7-hour long marathon of a session, Odonkor1 left the tables with $309,500 of Jungleman12’s money.
Patrik Antonius and Cole South did well last week too. Ashton Griffin made the winners’ list too, as Gus Hansen joined Brian Townsend and “thecranium” below the red line.
