Online Poker action over the Weekend

Tournament action over the weekend showed a definite uptick, marking the 4th straight week when player numbers shoot upward. With players running out of other options, PokerStars is slowly but surely becoming the last refuge for many of the high stakes pros, but at least, there’s still a place where such players can congregate.
Last weekend, it was once again the pros’ time to shine. With the WSOP out of the picture, they could focus fully on the PokerStars weekend guarantees. Chris Moorman led the pack by winning the $109 Sunday Rebuy for a reward of $54k. On his way to victory, Moorman had to dispose of another pro: Pokerstars’ own George Danzer who also made the final table.

The event responsible for the biggest prize of the weekend was once again the Sunday Million though. Having attracted a starting field of 6,383 players, the Sunday Million generated a prize-pool of $1,276,600. All three top finishers walked away with 6-figure prizes, thanks to a deal they struck. Tom Grigg finished second in the event, taking down $153,837, only about two bucks less than the winner: all in 2526.
A player known as “Janosch” finished 3rd, for a $132,243 reward.
The only other notable finish was that of Jules Adamson. Adamson picked up $5,362 for his 14th place.

The Sunday Warm-Up saw an increase in registrant numbers too. Its prize-pool of $659k was enough to create yet another 6-figure winner. That winner was specht1988, who picked up $103k for his efforts. There were no deals in this event. None of the other events held at PokerStars over the weekend resulted in another 6-figure winner. Chris Moorman played in the $100+$9 Sunday Rebuy, and he clinched the win, besting ‘Claypole’ heads-up. George Danzer made the final table too. Renato Almeida finished 7th. Other notable finishes in the event were those of David Allan (11th place) and Ryan Hall (21st).
