Online Poker Action – PokerStars Takes Over

Over the last few weeks, the high stakes online cash-game scene has shown remarkable signs of returning to normal, after the Black Friday events have pretty much closed down the action for a while. The million dollar swings and the nail-biting showdowns which drove railbirds up the wall were back in full force. The cash games have apparently successfully made the transition from the now decommissioned and mothballed Full Tilt Poker to PokerStars. Thus far, European players have shouldered most of the burden, but as more and more of the US-based pros move to jurisdictions where they’re allowed to play legally, the scene is slowly but surely returning to normal.
Despite the fact that there weren’t really any million dollar swings over the past week, the action was still plentiful and there was plenty for railbirds to see. Viktor Blom has apparently taken a break from the virtual tables, but there were others eager to take over: the biggest winner of the past week was Rafi Amit, who played a little more than 10k hands, logging a profit of $592.2k.
Axelf82 finished well north of the red line too: he generated a profit of $247.5k. The other big winner was socutiesf, who took home $210.2k. Ilari Sahamies scored some handsome profits as well: he finished the week with $202k more in his pockets.

Phil Galfond was the one most of the other guys’ profits came from. He ended up dropping $273k. Rui Cao lost almost as much: he dropped $216k. Ben Grundy and Zypherin made the losers’ list as well.

Quite probably the biggest online poker news of the week was the return of Sami Kelopuro to the high stakes tables. Kelopuro had a more than decent WSOP this year, but he had been missing from the online tables until last week. To make his return a triumphant one, he took $149k off Ilari Sahamies.

Since FBI took PS over, I lost 16M in play money quickly which I feel is not fair. I understand USA's need to make tax money from real tables, but after speaking with other USA players who lost all we worked for, years in obtaining with hours and hours of play, I feel USA has taken away our free play. I have done nothing wrong yet 16M in play money, please, the government has to stop somewhere. I get 4 A's and get beat by a royal flush, for example, every hand, this is just cruel.
