Online Poker Action – the Finns Pick Up the Gauntlet

The online poker world may have been hit hard by the Black Friday ordeal, and because many of the high stakes pros were from the US, the nosebleed stakes scene has taken quite a hit too, but while many of the usual protagonists can now only watch the action from the sidelines, others, those based in Europe, have now shot to the forefront of the
online poker scene. Andreas Torbergsen, Jens Kyllonen and Patrik Antonius were all in action over the last few days and they seemed unfazed by the lack of US competition.
Kyllonen was collecting pots at a 3-handed $300/$600 PLO table at
Full Tilt Poker, from Esvedra and Andreas Torbergsen. One of the largest pots of this session was a $225k one, which saw Kyllonen and Torbergsen battle it out. The money went all-in on the turn of a board of Kc,10d,6c,5d. Kyllonen had an Ace overpair and a 4-card diamond flush against Torbergsen’s top two pair. The river card was run twice and first it fell 3d, filling Kyllonen’s flush, then a 5s, giving him a better two pair than that of his opponent.
Another significant pot developed later, when Kyllonen pocketed a $186k monster. When the money went into the middle, Kyllonen had a top set against Torbergsen’s middle pair and flush draw. The turn and the river were run twice and Torbergsen failed to improve both times. To add insult to injury, Kyllonen made quads on the first run.
Another player who had an excellent last few days was Patrik Antonius. He played 6-handed $300/$600 PLO, against players like NoPasaran, FinnishNightmare and Esvedra. The largest pot of the session was a $190k one, for which 3 players committed significant amounts of chips. It all ended up in Antonius’ possession, after his straight held up against his opponents’ hands.
