Online poker action – Torbergsen soars

Last midweek saw plenty of action at Full Tilt Poker's high-stakes cash and tournament tables. Many of the nosebleed stakes regulars showed up, some of them scoring big, others continuing to drop money. One of those who dropped money yet again was Ilari Sahamies, who couldn't get Lady Luck to return to his side. Andreas Torbergsen logged quite a few hands too and ended up with a more than handsome profit. Scott Palmer was another player who had an excellent midweek. With the FTOPS in full swing, several of the November Nine members got to host FTOPS XVIII events. One of these guys didn't just host the event, he managed to win it too. We are talking about even #18 hosted by Soi Nguyen, the 9th place finisher at the Big Dance. In an amazing feat of poker prowess, Nguyen managed to top a starting field of 1,841 players, grabbing the title and the $78,500 top prize. The achievement was an even more spectacular one in light of the fact that Nguyen has become only the third player to win an FTOPS event he hosted.
In the meantime, at the cash tables, Andreas Torbergsen ruled supreme. He ended up as the biggest winner of the midweek, most of his money having come from Rami Boukai, against whom Torbergsen logged a 972 hand session. The fleecing took place at $200/$400 PLO tables at
Full Tilt Poker. Torbergsen ended up with a $167,000 profit, to which he added more than $200,000 won from various other opponents at the $300/$600 PLO tables.
The month of November has been a pretty good one for Gus Hansen, the player once the protagonists of the longest and sickest downswing in
high-stakes online poker history. While he seems to have shaken the monkey off his back, the same cannot be said about Ilari Sahamies, who is currently in the midst of a comparably nasty and lengthy downswing.
