Easter presented a great opportunity for people world over to relax and to take it easy for a couple of days, but obviously, nosebleed stakes professionals viewed it as yet another opportunity for some high stakes antics, so there was no shortage of action during the Holidays.
Phil Ivey was the main headliner of the Easter
online poker action. He showed up at the tables again and sure enough, he kicked things into high gear, walking away with a $316k profit, money which mostly came from Tom Dwan.
The first session the two players logged on Easter Sunday was a relatively short one. After only 75 hands, Ivey took home $213k at
Full Tilt Poker's $500/$1,000 PLO Holdem tables. A few hours later, the two players locked horns again heads-up at the same tables and battled on for about two hours. Ivey was the one who came out on top yet again, so at the end of it all, he finished about $316k in the black. The largest pot of this session was a $196,000 one, which wound up in Ivey’s possession, after his A,A,10,7 bested Dwan’s Q,10,9,8.
Never the one to be disheartened by a loss though, Dwan moved on to the $200/$400 NL Holdem tables, where he took on Justin Bonomo. The two players logged a massive 2,472 hands, at the end of which, ZeeJustin was left licking his wounds again, yet again a loser. Dwan took $228k off ZeeJustin in this session. The largest pot weighed in at $154k and it went to Bonomo. Dwan recovered ground by pocketing several smaller pots, among them a $120k monster. After he was done with Bonomo, Dwan moved on to play Isaac Haxton at the same limit. He ended that session with a 61k profit too.
Having run out of heads-up opponents, Dwan returned to the tables on Monday morning and he began to crush the short handed action. He played Ashton Griffin and a couple of other guys and by the end of the session he was $280k up again.
The largest pot of this session was a $191k monster, which ended up in Dwan’s possession.
Patrik Antonius hit the 7-Game tables in the meantime and he picked up about $625k there. He then played some PLO with Cole South, and he managed to round up his week’s winning to around $900k.
