Online Poker weekend – FTOPS wraps up

The online poker weekend featured plenty of high-gear action as the last events of the FTOPS wrapped up at Full Tilt Poker. A whole bunch of players took home 6-figure winnings and there was no doubting the fact that FTOPS events were largely responsible for these winnings.
The FTOPS Main Event was by all standards the highlight of the weekend. The $600+$40 event attracted a starting field of 4,534 players who combined buy-ins to create a $3 million prize-pool. The poker tournament did end in a 5-way deal at the top though, which has pretty much stripped the winner of the money he could’ve won had it not been for the deal.
Kirbynator walked away the official winner of the tournament, taking home $327,057. Due to the deal though, his was not the largest cash of the event: Antonio Palma, and DaHussstla, who finished in 2nd and 3rd respectively, won $342,851 each to top the prize-sheet.
The other two players involved in the deal walked away with 6-figure hauls too. KevD213 won $235,118 and Joel Oliveira took home $213,525.

The Main Event was by no means the only FTOPS action over the weekend though. Event #25 featured a much bigger buy-in. Participants had to cough up $2,000+$1,000 to enter the poker tournament, and that pretty much turned it into a high rollers’ event. 946 players bought in to create a $2 million prize-pool. Urbandb888 won this event (which saw none of the usual deals at the top), for a $450k haul. Palmao finished second for $285,000. 3 more players finished with 6-figure profits.
Ana Maquez was one of the notables who had a nice run, finishing in 12th place for $18,000.

Event #28 turned out to be a much more popular one. The $150+$13 buy-in proved to be small enough to attract a field of 1,748 players. Obviously, the prize-pool was much smaller too though. The registrants combined for a $933,150 prize-pool, which meant that the eventual winner (Taylor Paur) would walk away with $192,228.
Zwacke finished 2nd for $126,908, becoming the only other player to score a 6-figure win in this poker tournament.

Of course, Full Tilt’s regular high buy-in weekend guarantees (like the Sunday Mulligan) ran too, but they were far eclipsed buy-in and prize-pool wise by the above events.

FTOPS was one wicked poker series this time around. Couldn't win jack and ended up spending days and a crapload of $$$ on satellites and qualifiers :(
