This weekend was a bit different from the norm as far as the major weekend guarantees offered by
PokerStars went: there was no Sunday Million and the Sunday Warm-Up was gone from the lineup as well. Instead though, the WCOOP took center stage, kicking off with its first $109
NL Holdem event, and putting its $500k guarantee to shame quite effortlessly.
The event saw 11,799 players cough up the buy-in, creating a prize-pool of $1,179,000. This way, the two top finishers could afford to strike a deal and to take home 6-figure prizes each. A player known as WithoutNickk won the tournament, pocketing the $144,4k top prize. Runner-up herosnappinG had a great payday as well: his/her reward was $137.6k. No one else managed to finish in 6-figures, but the other prizes in the top 10 were impressive as well.
Over at
Full Tilt Poker, the usual majors – like the Sunday Brawl and the $250k Guaranteed - were retained, despite the fact that the MiniFTOPS got going there. The winner of the tournament was ChrisStar887, who made no deals on his way to the top and the $40.2k payday. ADubrovin was the runner-up. His share of the prize pool was $27.1k.
Having finished 6th for $7.1k, Jason Koon was the deepest finishing notable.
Full Tilt Poker’s biggest weekend tournament winner emerged from the $250k Guaranteed. dedmagor made no deals on his way to the top either, taking down the $68.2k top prize. game153 was the runner-up. His share of the prize-pool was $45.4k.
