PartyPoker Premier League VI – Esfandiari’s Dry Spell Over

In Group A of the PartyPoker Premier League VI, Antonio Esfandiari managed to gain some much-needed redemption after the rather mellow performances he logged in the first two heats: he managed to win the third heat hands-down, racking up 16 points and taking down a $32k prize. Scott Seiver finished second, followed by Phil Hellmuth in 3rd, so it’s safe to say that heat 3 was one of redemption. Daniel Cates, the winner of the previous heat, finished dead-last this time, taking home 0 points and $0. PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu didn’t fare much better either: he finished 7th, taking down a measly 2 points and $4k. Jonathan Duhamel, the overall leader, had a tough heat as well: he finished 5th, adding only 4 points to his already impressive tally. After 3 heats, Jonathan Duhamel is the leader, with 31 points to his name. Sam Trickett is second, with 19 points, tied with Antonio Esfandiari, who also has 19. Cates and Hellmuth are in joint 3rd, with 18 points each.
The last heat (the 4th) will settle the issue of the finalists for good. The players in the top 3 after the 4th heat will automatically secure their finals seats. Those in the 4th and 5th spots will have to play a heads-up match to determine the one to advance.

Meanwhile, in Group B, Dan Shak has pretty much locked up a final spot: he is the current leader with 27 points. Tobias Reinkemeier has 27 points to his name as well. Jennifer Tilly is 3rd, with 14 points. Shak won heat 3, disposing of Reinkemeier heads-up. Talal Shakerchi finished 3rd, followed by Jennifer Tilly in 4th. The player to end up with the goose-egg was Jason Mercier.
