PCA 2015 – Day 2 Report

The second day of the 2015 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (part of the EPT 2015) saw the field convene under the same roof for the first time. A total of 507 players bellied up to the tables at the beginning of the day, with one goal in mind: to make it to day 3. Obviously, everyone couldn’t make it though, and scores of contenders fell by the side as the action raged on. When the day was called, only 175 players were left standing. The one with the largest stack at the end of the day was amateur player Walter Fisher, who had some 497k chips accumulated. Fisher finished well ahead of second-place man Hugh Drummond, who had 456.8k chips bagged. Juan Martin Pastor finished the day in 3rd place, with 446k chips to his name. From among the well-known professionals, Jim Collopy and Pratyush Buddiga made the top 10, together with Jesse Rockowitz.

Fisher, whose usual roaming grounds are in LA, attributed his great PCA run to luck, saying that he managed to pick up a few great sets against large-stacked opponents with pocket rockets, a number of times.
Drummond, the runner-up, made his way to the top thanks to a massive pot he picked up late in the day. He got lucky enough to pick up pocket rockets in a hand in which Sebastian Von Toperczer ended up with pocket Qs.

Many of PokerStars’ pros ended the day with large stacks. Daniel Negreanu was one of them: the Canadian ended up with 295.6k chips. Liv Boeree made the cut too, with a stack of 247.1k chips to her name no less. Ole Schemion, Bertrand Grospellier and Olivier Busquet were among the survivors as well.
