645 players showed up on the second day of the 2011
PokerStars Caribbean Adventure’s Main Event. Day 2 consisted of 6 levels of play, during which the majority of hopefuls bowed out of contention. When the action was called, only 173 were still in the books. The money bubble was the major landmark of the day. As soon as the action kicked off, players begin hitting the rail and the pace of eliminations never really eased up.
Adam Geyer was the one who had the most chips bagged at the end of Day 2. Having accumulated 909k chips, he edged Ilan Rouah (who had 795k) and Chris Oliver (who had worked his stack up to 792k).
Given the high number of Team
PokerStars pro in the starting lineup, it was inevitable that many of those who bit the dust on day 2 be PokerStars patch-wearers. The list of PokerStars casualties was indeed quite impressive. Joe Cada, Liv Boeree, Dario Minieri, Nacho Barbero and John Duthie were all among the victims.
The most important hand of the day was obviously the one that burst the bubble. Marco Johnson was one of the protagonists of this hand, and William Reynolds was the other. Johnson was the one who kicked things into high gear before the flop, by shoving all-in from the SB. Reynolds called him from the BB and the decisive showdown was on.
Johnson had K,9 suited against Reynolds’ A,9o. The flop fell 9,7,2, giving both players a pair. The 10c on the turn gave Johnson a potentially life-saving flush draw. The Qh on the river dashed his hopes though and he was eliminated in 233rd place.
No fewer than 59 players ran out of chips after the bubble had burst. Some of the name pros who had done well on previous days though survived: Dwyte Pilgrim will be among the Day 3 returnees, together with Chris Moneymaker and Faraz Jaka.
