PCA Main Event – Day 3 report

The objective for the 173 surviving players was crystal clear on day 3 of the PCA’s $10k Main Event: they were supposed to play 6 levels or play down to the final 48.
Adam Geyer brought the biggest stack of chips into play at the beginning of the day. He maneuvered his large stack around skillfully, and although he failed to retain chip leader status, he did survived and finished among the 48.
Chris Moneymaker on the other hand did much better than that. Having amassed 1.6 million chips, he managed to finish near the top of the chip counts. The leading stack ended up in Max Lehmanski’s possession: he built his stack up to 2.32 million chips.

Sam Stein, Eddy Sabat and Chris Oliver were among the top finishers as well. As it’s usually the case, for a handful to thrive, the majority had to suffer. Eric Buchman and Dwyte Pilgrim highlighted the sufferers’ list. They were joined on the sidelines by Faraz Jaka and a whole bunch of PokerStars pros, among them Bertrand Grospellier, Pieter de Korver and Victor Ramdin.
PokerStars’ Greg Debora was eliminated as well at the end of a heartbreak of a hand. He was under the gun when he picked up a pair of 6s and shoved all-in on them. Wesley Wiemes made the call from the big blind with Ac,8c. The flop fell 7,J,J without a flush draw for Wiemes. A 4d fell on the turn and Debora was still looking good. The 8 on the river however gave his opponent a slightly bigger pair and he was eliminated.
His elimination was the last one of the evening as it spelled the end of the action for Day 3. Those who survived will return to the green felt on Wednesday, with the objective to play down to the final 24.
