PokerStars’ 90 Billionth Hand Awards Prizes

A few days ago we ran a piece about how PokerStars were gearing up to hit a lucky bunch of their players with some fabulous prizes, as the 90 Billionth hand was drawing near. Well, the landmark hand struck on Thursday, rewarding a tableful of players with cash prizes ranging from $14k to $66.3k. The prizes were awarded at a $1/$2 NL Holdem table known as “Ornamenta” where 6 players were grinding away. The news spread like wildfire and railbirds soon descended upon the table by the droves, among them PokerStars pros like Liv Boeree and Chris Moneymaker. The total on the haul was an impressive $228k.
Needless to say, all 6 players were awestruck upon the news. After a few minutes, the hand was finally set up and needless to say, everyone shoved all-in preflop. The pot grew to $1,689. The board fell Qh,7h,9c,4s,5d and the unlikely starting hand of m1sspiggy, a 4c, 7c hit the bottom pair for the win. The main pot was $1,220, a cinch besides the $66.3 k reward for winning the milestone hand. The remaining $162.1k was split up among the other players. The min-cash was worth $14k.
The next major milestone hand of the promotion will be the 95 Billionth one.

In other news: a few weeks ago, PokerStars launched a promotion the main prize of which was a day with PokerStars’ newest non-poker celebrity, Rafael Nadal. The winner of the promotion has been chosen the other day: 19-year old Joshua Jacobs from the UK had submitted a photo of his best poker face which was deemed the worthiest by a special panel of PokerStars officials. The promotion also includes an all expenses paid trip to Mallorca, Spain, as well as a heads-up poker match and a tennis match against Nadal.
