PokerStars Announce (preliminary) SCOOP Schedule

With one major online poker event coming up after the other in the next month or so, PokerStars threw some more gas onto the fire by announcing the preliminary schedule of their Spring Championship of Online Poker. With spring at least nominally upon us, the time is indeed right to put forth the objectives of the 2014 edition of the SCOOP, which appear rather ambitious indeed.
The 2014 SCOOP will apparently be a truly monumental series of tournaments: a total of 45 events are included on the schedule, but each of them will feature 3 buy-in levels, which means that in reality, there will be no fewer than 135 events for players to take part in.
The first event – the one marking the official start of the Series, kicks off on May 4. Obviously, like every respectable online poker Series, the SCOOP will feature a Main Event as well. Kicking off on May 18, the Main Event will offer three buy-in levels too. The small version tips the scale at $109, the medium version costs $1,050 to enter, while the big one features a $10.3k buy-in.
The “high” Main Event is obviously mostly aimed at PokerStars pros and other high-profile competitors who can actually afford to cough up the sizable buy-in. Last year’s winner of the event was Full Tilt Poker pro Viktor Blom, who defeated fellow pro Noah Boeken heads-up for the title and the $1.1 million top prize.

Obviously, the 2014 schedule is rife with all sorts of poker variants. There will be NL Holdem of course, together with Omaha, Stud, HORSE, Five-Card Draw, Badugi and 2-7 Single Draw. Some of the more exotic of these variants may in fact present players with some rather unexpected opportunities to take down a SCOOP title.
Player feedback will be considered before the schedule is actually finalized.
