Pokerstars APPT Auckland – Danny Leaoasavaii wins

The last 9 survivors of 3 days of poker hostilities showed up at the APPT Auckland’s Main Event final table, some hell bent on winning, others probably content to just make it as deep into the big money as possible.
Leo Boxell was treated to a very rude cracking of his pocket rockets within the first few hands to become the first victim of the final table. Boxell’s A,A fell to Danny Silk’s A,K which hit trips on the turn.
Noah Vogelman locked horns with Tom Grigg next. Vogelman had an Ad, 5d against Grigg’s A,Q. The money went all-in on the turn as each player held a pair of As. Grigg’s superior kicker would prove decisive though.
Santi Soriano Ramos took a huge hit from Danny Silk when he shoved all-in holding K,K. Silk had A,9 and hit another A right away on the flop to cripple Soriano Ramos. The Spaniard was eliminated on the very next hand.
Ropati Telafoea’s flush draw gamble blew up right in his face next, easing him towards the rail in 6th place.
Tamas Lendvai did well at the final table. He’d managed to double up before he decided to shove all-in for some reason, holding K,3o. Grigg jumped on the opportunity with his A,8o and sent the Hungarian to the rail mercilessly though.
In the meantime, Leaoasavaii kept building his stack, and soon surpassed the 2 million mark.
Grigg tried to keep up but Leaoasavaii extended his lead by eliminating Danny Silk in 4th place. Grigg then got in some kicks and punches of his own, disposing of
PokerStars qualifier Srdjan Mitrovic in 3rd place.
The heads-up stage saw Leaoasavaii and Grigg start out nearly even in chips. The lead changed hands numerous times before Leaoasavaii landed a knockout punch with his As, Ks against Grigg’s J,10o.
