PokerStars APPT Macau – Day 2 Report

304 players showed up for the second day of the APPT’s Macau Main Event, among them notables like Phil Ivey, Bryan Huang and Terrence Chan. When the noise of battle subsided, only around 100 were still standing and Phil Ivey was not among them. Nathaniel Seed was the player who clinched the chip lead, having amassed a stack of 774.5k. Seet grabbed the reins of the action early, and he never let go. He eliminated opponents left and right, and using his vast APPT experience, shot right into the lead. Seet has quite a few APPT deep finishes under his belt: He made the APPT Auckland final table in 2008, running out of steam in 8th place eventually. The same year, he won the high roller event at the APPT’s Manila stop. In Cebu, he finished 10th in the Main Event in 2010. This time around, he will certainly have a chance to best all of those performances.

Paul Foltyn was one of the early contributors to Seet’s “cause” on day 2. The two shoved all-in before the flop, as Foltyn held an A,8o against Seet’s pocket 10s. The board ran out a bunch of blanks and Foltyn earned a one-way ticket to the rail.
Seet later tangled with and took chips from Team PokerStars’ Randy Lew.

Phil Ivey started the day with a stack of a little over 50k chips. His struggles began almost as soon as the action got going, and after he managed to get up to about 70k chips, things really turned southward for him.
In his final hand, Ivey attempted a bluff from the button holding K,9o against Darren judges who was in the cut-off. Judges had A,J though and he made the call. The board landed a bunch of bricks and Ivey was done for.
Alex Kravchenko, Raymond Wu and Bryan Huang were all eliminated as well.
David Steicke advanced, together with Terrence Chan and Jeff Rossiter.
