PokerStars EPT Berlin – Day 2 report

Day 2 of the
EPT Berlin Main Event was a rather short one in terms of levels completed, but it saw the field sail past a few extremely significant milestones, like the money bubble. 353 players showed up at the Spielbank Berlin to kick off the day 2 action. At the end of the day, only 119 remained, but they all went to bed safe in the knowledge that they were all guaranteed a minimum cash of €7,500. Fabrice Soulier could probably afford to dream bigger though: given the fact that he finished the day with the largest stack, he could probably count on more money than the min-cash.
The day began with everyone jumping into the thick of the action right out of the gates. The start of the day chip leader, Sander Berndsen spared no chips and no effort in trying to get ahead. Unfortunately, one magic ingredient was missing from the Dutchman’s stew: Lady Luck’s approval. Thus, instead of adding to his stack he kept losing money and at one point he found himself bounced, with the money bubble barely looming on the horizon.
He wasn’t the only victim of the early attrition though. Salvatore Bonavena, Sandra Naujoks, Marcin Horecki, Matt Affleck and Ramzi Jelassi were all bounced as well.
PokerStars’ Arnaud Mattern had barely made it to day 2, but once he sat down behind his diminutive stack, he found almost immediate traction, and he doubled up a few times in quick succession. As he was about to put together a quite phenomenal run, his efforts were cut short by a hand which unceremoniously sent him to the rail.
Cristian Dragomir, the Day 1A chip leader, failed to make the money too. He too started dropping chips as soon as the action kicked off and he never really managed to get anything going.
Peter Eastgate, Sebastian Ruthenberg and Thomas Bichon will return to action on day 3 though.
