PokerStars EPT Berlin – Day 3 report

119 players returned to the tables of the Spielbank Berlin on the third day of the EPT Berlin stop, comfortable in the knowledge that they would not go home empty handed, and all hoping to make it as close to the top as possible. The action was yet again fast and furious, and by the day’s end, the field had whittled down to 24. Daniel Pidun managed to accumulate a monster-stack of 2,429,000 chips, which was more than enough to give him the lead for the day.
Anton Thotatinsson was the last player to be eliminated on Day 3. He picked up €17,500 for his efforts.
Sebastian Ruthenberg, who was one of the name players to make it through Day 2, failed to secure his day 4 seat. He was joined on the rail by Sam Chartier and Jack Elwood.

Maximilian Heinzelmann was the one who turned in the most spectacular performance of the day. Barely holding on by a thread when the action kicked off, he meticulously fought all the way into second place by the end of the day. One of the biggest pots of the day went down between Anton Morgenstern and Felix Schulze. The QQ vs AK coin-flip eventually went Morgenstern’s way, eliminating Schulze from contention.
Fabrice Soulier started the day with the biggest stack, but he failed to gain any traction at the feature table. Although he did not bust, he finished the day with only 890k chips, his stack a shadow of its former self.
The day exacted a heavy toll on Team PokerStars Pro too. Only two of its members were left standing: Joep van den Bijgaart and Henrique Pinho. All past EPT champions have been eliminated so the title is now certain to end up in pristine territory.
There were players among the survivors who had several close calls on their records though. Martin Jacobson, who finished runner –up twice will be back on Day 4.
