PokerStars EPT Berlin – Day 4 report

Daniel Pidun returned with the biggest stack of chips on Day 4 of the EPT Berlin Main Event. He led the field of 24 survivors into the penultimate day of action, followed by Max Heinzelmann and Ben Wilinofsky. When the action was called at the end of the day, it was Wilinofsky who stood atop the provisional leader board, to head the final table on day 5. While his fellow large-stacks were rather careful, Wilinofsky jumped right into the fray as soon as the action kicked off. He got it all-in on pocket Js first, against Gerado Muro’s A,Q and won the coin-flip. That initial push was enough to keep him going all through the day. Markus Grewe was next on his hit-list: the German shoved all-in on a flop of 10,9,5 holding A,J. Wilinofsky jumped on the opportunity holding a set of 9s. Needless to say, the turn and the river did nothing to help Grewe and Wilinofsky’s stack shot past the 4 million chip mark.

PokerStars’ Henrique Pinho’s stack moved in a radically different direction: he started dropping chips early on, and after he doubled up Jonas Gutteck, he never managed to recover. He was eventually bounced in 20th position, heading to the rail in possession of his highest ever EPT finish.

Fabrice Soulier, one of the earlier chip leaders, found himself chip-less just before the dinner break. He picked up a 4-card straight and a 4-card flush on the flop and shoved all-in with his 5h, 4h against Vadzim Kursevich’s A,Ko. The turn and the river missed both his draws and he was out in 11th place.
10 players returned after the dinner break to set the official 9-handed final table. It only took Cuello Jorge Mariano 10 minutes to get all his chips into the middle on a K,Q. He was called by Heinzelmann who had A,J. Nothing changed on the turn and the river and the official final table was set.
