PokerStars EPT London – David Vamplew wins!

Of the record number of 848 players who coughed up the buy-in for the
EPT’s London Main Event a few days ago, only 8 had earned the right to return to action on the final day of the poker tournament.
John Juanda was among the 8 final table participants and he was definitely the favorite going into the final stretch. Sure enough, the
Full Tilt Poker pro made it all the way to the heads-up stage, but there he got stopped by one of the local boys: David Vamplew.
The final table action got rolling around noon, and the short-stacks had obviously come to the table with a battle-plan: to take a chance early on, then either bust or double up. Tom Marchese was one of these short stacks, who pushed all his chips into the middle as soon as he picked up an A,10o. Per Ummer made the call with a K,Qo and as the board fell a bunch of bricks, he found his stack reduced to 5 BBs. He shoved all-in a couple of hands later on some rags and was bounced in 8th place.
Tom Marchese was the next to bow out of the event despite his early double up. He dropped some chips on a busted pair of Js then lost his all-in against Vamplew.
Fernando Brito was the one bounced in 5th place, Kyle Bowker responsible for his demise. Kayvan Payman followed him to the rail shortly, his A,4o no match for David Vamplew’s pocket Qs.
Clearly on a roll, Vamplew then proceeded to eliminate Kyle Bowker in 4th. John Juanda got in on the action, by setting up the heads-up stage of the event through Artur Wasek’s elimination.
Both surviving players were boasting deep-stacks at that stage, but they didn’t procrastinate: they began shoving all-in almost right away. The final hand of the tournament saw Juanda’s K,2o go up against Vamplew’s A,3 which proceeded to flop a two pair.
