PokerStars EPT London – Day 4 Report

The objective for Day 4 of the EPT’s London stop was for the field of 62 to play down to the final 24, and that objective was indeed achieved. Mattias Bergstrom was the one who finished the day with the biggest stack, having amassed 1.8 million chips.
The end of the day 4 action came upon Neil Pearce’s elimination in 25th place. Pearce shoved all-in before the flop on a pair of 7s, and unfortunately for him, he got called by Jeremy Kotler, who had pocket Qs. Already severely behind before the flop, Pearce found no help on the flop, turn or river, and he was forced to the rail. Kottler went on to amass a more than decent stack, finishing the day in 4th place overall.

Many a ‘name’ player bit the dust on Day 4 of the event too. Barny Boatman went out in 57th place. Marvin Rettenmaier made it a bit further, but he succumbed too eventually, in 41st place. Steven Kelly and Roberto Romanello had their names added to the casualty list as well, in 39th and 37th places respectively.
Team PokerStars was extremely well represented at the beginning of the hostilities, and through all 4 days of action, PokerStars pros busted out left and right. Day 4 saw the next-to-last one of them hit the rail: Salvatore Bonavena got the last of his chips into the middle preflop, holding a K,10o. He was called by Basile Yaiche, who had pocket 4s. Bonavena’s K,10 did improve, as he made a pair of Ks, but Yaiche managed to land a set of 4s and Bonavena was ushered away from the table, leaving Team Pokerstars Pro with a single representative going into the final stretch. That representative was Juan Manuel Pastor.

Plenty of ‘name’ players have made it past the Day 4 hurdle too though. Benny Spindler, one of the day 1 chip leaders, Joao Barbosa, Sebastian Blom and Martins Adeniya will all return.
