PokerStars EPT London – Day 5 Report

The objective on Day 5 of the PokerStars EPT London Main Event was for the field to play down to the final table. That objective was indeed reached, when Adria Balaguer busted out in 9th place, leaving only 8 players to return on the final day. All 8 survivors are now guaranteed a minimum payout of €64k.
Martins Andeniya was the one responsible for the last elimination of the day. The pot that he picked up on that hand thrust his stack into the lead. He finished with 4.7 million chips and a comfortable lead over second-place man Mattias Bergstrom, who had only 3.62 million.
24 players returned to action at the beginning of the day, among them Sebastian Blom, Viktor Blom’s brother. The day wouldn’t be a long one for Blom though: he was the first victim, disposed of in 24th place. Basile Yaiche was eliminated too in 19th. Joao Barbosa, Benjamin Jenkins and James Mitchell were the other name players who bit the dust short of the final table.
Barbosa busted out during the 24th level, when he shoved all-in, holding pocket 4s. Steve O’Dwyer made the call with K,Jo and took the lead on the flop which fell A,J,3. The turn and the river changed nothing and the last
EPT champion was sent to the rail.
Juan Manuel Pastor, the last Team
PokerStars Pro left in the field, managed to survive day 5, making the final table on a stack of 1.9 million chips.
Pastor had put his tournament life onto the line during level 25, when he shoved all-in holding pocket 4s, forcing two of his opponents to fold. Andre Klebanov made the call though with Ad, 9d and the classic coin-flip was on. The board failed to hit Klebanov and thus Pastor managed to double up.
The official short-stack of the final table is Steve O’Dwyer, who made the cut behind a stack of 1.25 million chips.
