PokerStars EPT Warsaw – Day 2: Mozdzen takes center stage

148 Day 1A and Day 1B survivors bellied up to the tables of the Casinos Poland at the Hyatt Hotel in Warsaw for the second day of the EPT’s Warsaw Main Event. The action lasted for almost five levels, enough to leave only 6 players alive for day 3. At the end of Day 2, the chip lead went to Clayton Mozdzen, who’d accumulated a 332,300 stack.

Having started the day on a 103,250 stack, Mozdzen was already among the top ranks. The PokerStars online qualifier then proceeded to chip up nicely several times during Day 2 to secure the chip lead.
Second position in the provisional chip count went to Carter Phillips, who ended the day with 299,800 chips. The overall chip leader when the day 2 action began, Carter Phillips showed no signs of slowing down. He kept on bouncing players and wrecking stacks left and right, despite being seated at the same table with Scotty Nguyen, Luca Pagana and Alessio Isaia. Phillips seemed to thrive under pressure, as his success-streak came to an abrupt end when moved to a different table. At his new table, he quickly donated half of his chips to Anatoly Gurtoyov, but eventually managed to get things together and finish second.

Shaun Deeb was the other story of the day. He too had an excellent time, being at the right place in the right time all through. He doubled up through an opponent during the early Day 2 action, by cracking an A,K with his A,Q which hit the nut heart flush.
He hovered around the same stack-size for about two hours, when he hit a boat against Lisa Taphanel and doubled up again. When the action was called, Deeb had 226,400 chips in is stack.

The going was much tougher for Ludovic Lacay though. The Frenchman was bounced and joining him on the rail were Claudio Rinaldi, Alex Kravchenko and Bertrand Grospellier. Dario Minieri hung on for a while but he won’t be playing on Day 3 either. Peter Eastgate had a rough ride of a day too, but unlike minieri, he managed to survive.
