The third day of the PokerStars
EPT’s Warsaw Main Event saw a field of 55 players return to the tables of the Casinos Poland in the Hyatt Hotel in Warsaw.
Day 3 action lasted for 8 hours, during which the field thinned down to the final 24, players who would all play on Day 4 knowing that they wouldn’t have to leave empty handed.
The provisional chip lead went to Jeff Sarwer, who was followed by Day 2 chip leader Clayton Mozdzen who managed to bounce back at the end of a rollercoaster of a day to finish near the top.
The first victim of the day was Thierry van den Berg, one of the few remaining PokerStars Team pro members. He lost a coin-flip for his tournament life during the early going. Peter Eastgate, the 2008 WSOP Main Event champion and one of the two remaining
Team PokerStars Pro members was sent to the rail about an hour later, in a three way hand in which his pocket Js fell to Tome Cardoso Moreira’s pocket Qs. Eastgate’s elimination meant that PokerStars’ professionals would only be represented by Luca Pagano from that point on.
Carter Phillips, Day 1A’s provisional chip leader had a really rough day too. He kept doubling people up at his table, until he found himself on a short stack and eventually pushed all-in holding A,8o. Ruslan Prydryk called him with A,Ko and sent him to the rail.
Sorel Mizzi and Mel Judah were also eliminated around mid day. Clayton Mozdzen had it going pretty rough for a while too, and soon he found himself swallowed by the pack. The last few levels of action brought a few good size pots for him though and thanks to them he was soon back in shape.
Anthony Lellouche had started the day on a short-stack, but he managed to catch a couple of early double ups and continued to chip up nicely through the day to finish in 5th place eventually. Domantas Klimciauskas became the bubble boy when his A,J remained unimproved against Oleksandr Vaserfirer’s pocket 8s.
