PokerStars Gearing up for its Sunday Million’s 7th Anniversary

PokerStars are set to unleash the mother of all online poker promotions on March 3, 2013. The biggest and most popular online poker site certainly has the funds to offer outlandish guarantees and through them to generate prize pools that will beat every record time and time again. What exactly is the special occasion on March 3? One may wonder… PokerStars's flagship Sunday major, the Sunday Million celebrates its seventh birthday. In order to throw the biggest and most prestigious weekly
online poker tournament a suitable bash, PokerStars will do what they usually do under such circumstances: they will up the guarantee. This time however, the guarantee won't just be doubled or tripled, it shall be raised from the usual $1 million to a staggering $7 million, which means that the eventual winner of the tournament will walk away with a cool $1 million, as much as the entire regular prize-pool of the event.
The start of the event is at 14:30 ET, and the buy-in is the usual $200 + $15. Qualifying through one of
PokerStars’ direct-access satellites is also possible. All these satellites feature sub-satellites too, which allow players to earn a seat in the big one and to possibly become part of online poker history for mere pocket change. According to Team PokerStars Pro Lex Weldhuis, the anniversary Sunday Million will be the online equivalent of playing in an
EPT main event. While it is indeed Weldhuis’ job to generate as much hype as possible, this time around he’s probably absolutely correct.
PokerStars are quite right to expect a record-breaking starting field for the anniversary event. Last year, the prize pool was a much shallower one, yet no fewer than 33,732 players bought into it.
