PokerStars.it EPT San Remo – Day 4 Report

Chris McClung came into the 4th day of the EPT San Remo’s Main Event in possession of the largest stack. He made full use of his chips and never relinquished control. He extended his lead and by the end of the day, he was sitting behind a stack of 3.148 million chips, about a million chips larger than that of the second place man. Early in the day, Joseph Cheong appeared to be the only one capable to mount a challenge against McClung. Cheong did well through the day, but towards the end of it, he committed the mistake of locking horns with the alpha-male, a mistake which cost him most of his chips. Cheong had pocket Ks against McClung’s Qh, 7h, but there was no stopping McClung that day. The flop fell Jh,4h,2c, giving McClung a 4-card flush. The Kh on the turn was a massively ironic card. It gave Cheong a seemingly unbeatable set of Ks, but it also filled McClung’s flush and the pot was shipped the chip leader’s way. Thus, having messed with the bull, Cheong went from hero to zero in a mere one hand.

4 Team PokerStars pros survived to Day 4 and unfortunately, by the end of the day, 2 of these players had vanished from the tables. One of the casualties was Vanessa Selbst. The board was a Q-high one and Selbst had an Ac,Kc on which she pushed all-in. Alessio Isaia had Qh, Jh and hit a two pair on the turn to send the PokerStars pro packing.
The other PokerStars player who was eliminated on day 4 was John Duthie. He trusted his tournament life to an As, 6s, but Christopher Williamson made the call with A,Ko. The board didn’t hit either player and Duthie was done. Johnny Lodden and Lex Veldhuis on the other hand, managed to make it past the day 4 hurdle. Mike McDonald, Kevin MacPhee and Barny Boatman made the final 24 too.
