8 players returned for the final day of the PokerStars LAPT’s Season 3 first leg. Amer Sulaiman would rise from the final table to victory, taking home the PokerStars trophy and the $172,095 reward for first place.

The final table action kicked off on the cautious side. Players were trying to get a feel for the flow of it, and possibly to pick up a few reads on the other players. It took about an hour of back and forth for the first casualty to come about. Patrick De Koster became the first victim of the final table when his A,7o ran into Eric Levesque’s pocket Qs. The board brought no help and the Dutchman hit the rail in 8th.

Short Stacks Rogelio Pardo and Francis-Nicholas Bouchard both managed to stave off elimination through a timely double up. It took the table another hour to eject the next weak link. Carlos Giron pushed all-in on his A,9o only to be called by Sol Bergren who had the chip lead and a Jc, Qc to match his opponent’s hand. The flop fell Q,10,6 to give Bergren the lead in the hand, a lead which would carry through to the end.

Amer Sulaiman called Darren Keyes’ all in next with an A,K. Keyes’ A,7 was dominated but he managed to catch a 7 to improve. Sulaiman landed a K on the river though to bust him out in 6th. Bouchard became the next victim when Sulaiman dealt him a fatal blow on a K,9o vs pocket rockets match-up. Bouchard did hit a pair of Ks but it wasn’t enough to bail him out.
4th place went to Levesque after his A,Qo failed to catch any improvements on the board against Bergren’s pocket 8s.

In an obvious rush to chip up, Pardo shoved all-in on the very next hand. His A,3 went up against Bergren’s pocket 5s, but failed to improve, and Bergren caught a 5 to add insult to injury.

The heads-up stage of the game began with Bergren holding a marginal chip lead over Sulaiman. After a little bit of back and forth, the final hand of the event saw Sulaiman’s 10,7o hit a pair of 10s on the flop. The money went all-in and Bergren’s 7s, 6s failed the catch the straight he was shooting for.
