PokerStars LAPT Rosario – Martin Sansour wins

The PokerStars LAPT’s Rosario Main Event is finally in the books and a winner has had his hand raised and pockets stuffed. The poker tournament attracted a starting field of 254 players, generating a total prize-pool of $1,176,220. Of that, the winner would take home a lion’s share of $322,280.

8 players returned to the tables of the City Center Casino in Rosario for the 4th day of the event. Matthias Habernig was among those battling it out for the title, looking to repeat Nacho Barbero’s performance of winning back to back LAPT titles. While all the attention was focused on the German, Martin Sansour swung into action quietly and scored two eliminations to draw first blood at the final table. Nico Fierro was the first one to hit the rail. He picked up $25,880 for his efforts. Ivan Saul was bounced soon after him, picking up 37.6k. Guilty for both eliminations was Sansour, who managed to build up a solid stack this way. With two alpha-players at the table, the confrontation was inevitable and sure enough, Sansour and Habernig locked horns next. Sansour’s A,7 caught another A on the flop to dispose of Habernig in 6th place.

The German’s elimination gave Sansour the chip lead. He didn’t slow down though, and soon he was involved in yet another monster pot, this time against Roberto Bianchi. The money went into the middle past the river as Bianchi decided to attempt a bluff at the worst possible moment: right after Sansour had flopped a straight.

The next player to hit the rail was William Ross, courtesy of – you’ve guessed it – Martin Sansour. Bolivar Palacios bounced Daniel Ades next to set up heads-up play.
Needless to say that by this stage, Sansour had built up more than enough of a chip advantage and confidence. Heads-up play only lasted for 2 hands, the final hand of the tourney seeing Sansour’s A,K disposing of Palacios’ A,Q.
