PokerStars SCOOP – Day 2 Report

The second day of the 2012 PokerStars SCOOP kicked off on Monday and what a day it was. Several notables made deep runs in various events and PokerStars’ Isildur1 led the charge with a win in the $1 million guaranteed $200 NL Holdem event. The
PokerStars pro has always been known for his cash-game prowess, but lately, he’s begun making a name for himself on the tournament circuit as well.
Isildur1 started the second day of the said event in 16th place out of a total of 89 survivors. He adopted a shrewd approach: he let the shorter stacks battle it out until the field was down to about 30 and then sprung into action, leaping right to the top of the chip counts. By the time the final table was reached, the no longer mystery Swede had the top spot all locked up.
As the first two players at the final table were bounced, Blom gave up his lead but only briefly. He scored the next 2 eliminations to jump right back into the lead again.
Frederik Jensen was in the mix too at that stage, but - following another elimination - he too fell at Blom’s hands no less, so the Swede extended his lead and by then it was obvious he was going to be battling for the title indeed. Blom didn’t stop there. He eliminated szwindel in 3rd place to set up the heads-up stage of the action. By then, he had a massive 4-1 chip lead over his only remaining opponent, an advantage he exploited well, finishing heads-up play in a mere 5 hands. Blom picked up a $247.2k reward for his efforts.
Other players who did well on day 2 of the SCOOP were Alex Gomes, who won the $2k NL Holdem 6-max 2-day event for a prize of $282.4k, Rodrigo Caprioli and Kami Chisholm. Caprioli won the $2k Limit Badugi event.
