Just when you thought things couldn't get any better, the PokerStars million dollar tournament becomes worth a million dollars more: PokerStars are adding another $1 million to the Sunday Million!
There isn't a tournament in the world that has "million" in the title that shouldn't result in a raised eyebrow, but next weeks Sunday Million at PokerStars may be worthy of a double eyebrows raise! The weekly tournament at PokerStars which is amongst the most popular online poker tournaments around is going to be bigger than ever as PokerStars announce that an extra $1 million is going to be thrown into the pot.
This week's Sunday Million played on Sunday November 8th attracted 7,887 players which, with a £215 buy-in created a first place prize of $236,614.05. The tournament which turned out to be as action packed as ever but of course there's only one first place winner, and this week it was Justin1836. However. Justin1836 and the other final table players including agriffrod who made it to the 2009 SCOOP Event #14 final table, we are sure are very happy with their wins, but they'd be forgiven for thinking that maybe they should have waited till next month.
The Sunday Million always had a large guaranteed prize pool, as if you didn't know that from the name. However the latest announcement from PokerStars to add an extra $1 million into that prize pool has come as a very pleasant surprise. The reason for the decision is not yet clear, although with the extra money in the pot PokerStars is expecting to see an increase in player numbers of approximately 30% which may be reason enough in and of itself.
The next weekly million will run on Sunday 15th November, for which there are qualifiers running right now at PokerStars.
