PokerStars SuperStar Showdown – Haxton Gets the Better of Blom Again

Isaac Haxton was Isildur1’s only opponent who managed to actually take money from him in the PokerStars SuperStar Showdown. Sure, there were other players who managed to log a profit against the Swedish pro, but they gave all of it back and some more in a later Showdown match-up. Haxton took down $41k in that first match-up between the two. On Sunday, he didn’t exactly start off on the right foot though: he dropped about $100k only 692 hands into the bout which was supposed to last 2.5k hands.

Haxton then got cut off as rough weather in Malta supposedly ruined his internet connection. The two were thus forced to suspend the hostilities and postpone the resumption of the bout until Tuesday. On Tuesday, as the action resumed, Haxton didn’t look good at all. The funny thing was though that he managed to pull off a spectacular rebound nonetheless. The hand which allegedly started his rally was one in which he shoved all-in on a board of 2,6,5,6,Q holding pocket Js. Blom made the call with A,Q and took down the $43k pot, but from there on out Haxton began to pull even. He first recovered around $50k and it looked like he was going to get right back into the books, but he then lost a $61k pot again and slipped to a $118k deficit.

500 hands later, that deficit was down to about $49.7k. A crucial pot followed, which saw Haxton’s pocket 8s make a set on the flop, crushing Blom’s J,10 and giving Haxton the $65.6k pot. That move brought Haxton within $8k of his opponent. Shortly afterwards, Haxton clinched the lead and he proceeded to extend it, so at one point, he was $79k above the red line. It was then that another bomb went off in the shape of the biggest pot of the session. Blom ended up taking down the $94k pot, leaving his opponent with a $363 profit. Some more give and take ensued in the wake of this hand, and when it was all said and done, Haxton was up $5k.

I wish I could say I've done that, but I'm guessing they polabbry get a check or have the money direct deposited in their bank, after the taxes are taken out.
