PokerStars TCOOP – Massive Prize-pools on Offer

PokerStars’ TCOOP rolled on during the weekend and no fewer than 15 events (of the scheduled 50) played down to their respective winners. Given that it’s the Turbo Championship of
Online Poker we’re talking about, the action was indeed fast and furious. The series offers a total guaranteed prize-pool of $15 million, so there’s quite a bit to play for indeed.
Poker pro Paul Berende was one of the biggest winners of the weekend. He ended up chopping event #17, a $109
NL Holdem tournament, picking up a $106.9k prize. Although this was Berende’s first TCOOP title, it came in addition to his SCOOP title, picked up in 2012. All that is left to conquer for Berende now is the WCOOP, to secure the first ever COOP Triple Crown.
Other players who did well over the weekend were “SorinRF” and “idvalentina” who both ended up with $60k after they agreed to a heads-up deal in event #15.
SorinRF had actually made his second final table in the event, which was enough to thrust him into second place on the TCOOP leader-board, just behind Canada’s “Yaba”.
The biggest single TCOOP prize awarded over the weekend was handed out by event #16, the $320 NL Holdem Knockout one. A player known as “sirgenutz” picked up $127.2k in this one. The lowest prize came in event #5, the $27 NL Draw one, which saw its winner, “mimoletka”, pick up $9k.
In other news: the UKIPT’s Edinburgh Main Event went into the books on Sunday. Its winner was Nicolau Villa-Lobos from Brazil, who had to wade through a field of 612 players to grab the top prize. The winner’s share of the prize-pool was a £101k chunk of change. Vladislav Donchev finished second, for a £61k reward.
