SCOOP 2012 – Day 5 Report

Thus far this year, Isildur1 has had a great time at the PokerStars SCOOP. He already has two titles under his belt and he’s busy trying to rack up another one. Day 5 of the series saw 2 events kick off, but since they were both 2-day tournaments, their conclusions would only come about on Day 6.
Isildur1 was in action in one of these events and he almost made it to its day 2 yet again. The event was the $2k PLO Heads-up one, which saw Blom wade through the opposition vigorously, before hitting a snag and busting out during the semifinals. On his way to the final 8, Blom defeated Ben Vilinofsky, Guiseppe Pantaleo, and a slew of online players: ISILDRooN, Jarcon86, NeverScaredB and Saphire1. Blom picked up $18.4k for his efforts, after he fell to BriDge2Pain during the final 8 confrontations. The battle Blom had against the above said player was the longest heads-up bout of his in the event: it lasted over an hour. The advantage see-sawed a bit in the beginning, but soon, Blom’s opponent shot out to a 4-1 chip advantage. The Swede was eventually forced to commit the last of his chips, on a pair of Qs and a gutshot straight draw. His opponent had a pair of Qs and deuces and a flush draw to go with it. Another deuce fell on the river to decide the fate of the pot, eliminating Blom from contention. Those who make the final 4 of the event will all take home $33k. The runner-up spot is worth $66k, while the winner will take home $103.8k.

The other – similarly structured – event of the day was the $200 PLO heads-up event, featuring a $100k guarantee. The tournament was interrupted at the final 16 stage, the losers of which picked up $2.7k each. The winners made it past the day 1 hurdle and will be back on day 2 to duke it out.
