The 2013 PCA is Upon Us!

With 2012 safely behind us and tucked away, it is now time to take a look at the upcoming year, the first major event of which – the
PokerStars Caribbean Adventure – is already upon us. The PCA, which is an official stop of the
EPT, will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, and it will doubtlessly attract massive player crowds, complete with some of the biggest names in poker.
Hosted by the Atlantis Casino and Resort on Paradise Island, the PCA is a truly multi-faceted poker destination: besides the great poker action and the massive prize-pools, it also offers players a chance to get away from the wrath of the winter.
The Super High Roller, which features a $100k buy-in, is another major attraction of the 10-day poker festival, which hosts more diverse events than anything similar on the planet. Several “name” pros have already expressed their desire to play in the
poker tournament. Daniel Negreanu will apparently be there, together with Jason Mercier, Bertrand Grospellier, Isaac Haxton and Eugene Katchalov. An interesting new entry will be that of Phil Hellmuth who will attend the PCA for the first time in his career.
The Main Event is obviously the culmination of the PCA. Last year, victory in the Main Event went to John Dibella, who survived a starting field of 1,072 players to get there. The winner’s reward was a massive $1.77 million.
The Super High Roller turned out to be a pretty spectacular affair as well: former
online poker mystery-man Viktor Blom won the event, taking down a $1.25 million prize.
All signs seem to point to the fact that this year’s PCA will be the best on file yet. Attendance will certainly be up, and among the participants will be quite a few online poker qualifiers as well, who have earned their PCA seats at PokerStars.
