The Online Poker Weekend

With the 2013 WSOP in full swing, PokerStars officials may have been quite justifiably worried about the player turn-out in their weekend majors, and about whether or not the generous guarantees would be covered. Indeed, while participation did take a bit of a hit, eventually, the biggest guarantee of them all, that of the Sunday Million was quite handily covered.
A total of 6,733 players coughed up the $215 buy-in for the big one, creating a prize-pool of $1,346,600. There weren’t any “name” players present in the top 10 upon the conclusion of the poker tournament. The top two finishers struck a heads-up deal, which left the eventual winner, “ATHIED87”, with a $188.1k reward. The runner-up, “Donkab0mber” pocketed $168.1k. None of the other players managed to break into 6-figures prize-wise.
That very few “name” competitors took part in the event was obvious in the fact that there weren’t any such high profile finishers in any sort of noteworthy positions.

PokerStars’ Sunday Warm-Up managed to cover its $500k guarantee as well. The 3,010 registrants created a prize-pool of $602k. The winner was “Paffchen” who took home the $94.5k top prize. There weren’t any deals made at the top. Runner-up “bakajagub” finished with $70.4k. Matthias de Meulder made a deep run in this one, locking up 3rd place for a $49.9k prize.

Unlike PokerStars’ weekend majors, Full Tilt Poker’s $350k guaranteed was yet again an underachiever, failing to cover its guarantee. The winner of the tournament was “CAPINHABR” who took home $70k for his efforts. There weren’t any deals at the top in this event either. Nick Maimone finished second, picking up a $46.5k prize.
A total of 1,382 players bought into the tournament. Other deep-finishing notables were George Bedi (13th place), Daniel Cates (15th) and Caio Pessagno (18th).
Play at PokerStars for the chance to take part in weekend majors like the Sunday Million.
