The Online Poker Weekend – Adrian Marin Warms Up

The festivities marking PokerStars’ 10th anniversary will kick off in December, but until then, there was one more weekend and weekends always represent special opportunities for PokerStars’ Players. The Sunday Million, the biggest and most prestigious event on the block, drew a starting field of 6,609 players, who combined buy-ins to generate a prize-pool of $1,321,800.
Robert Chiro of Brazil was the winner of the poker tournament and as there were no deals made at the top, he took down the lion’s share of the above said prize-pool which amounted to $201,049.
When the final table of the Sunday Million kicked off, Chiro was in second place. A player known as “Phantomes124” was way out ahead, with twice as many chips in his possession as Chiro. Phantomes124 eventually made it all the way to 3rd place before he was bounced by Chiro. He picked up $105.7k for his efforts. Chrisf44 was the second place man: he picked up $148.7k for his efforts.
Other notables to finish high in the Sunday Million were Jay Kinkade and Hugh Cohen, who finished 16th and 20th respectively.

The Sunday Warm-up saw 3,535 players cough up the $215 buy-in to create a $707k prize-pool. Unlike the Sunday Million, this event saw a 3-way deal at the top. The eventual winner was Romania’s Adrian Marin, who ended up taking home $90k. Vincent Van Der Fluit finished second, taking home $84.4k for his efforts.
A player known as “vincelis” was also part of the deal: he finished 3rd, taking down $77.5k. Van Der Fluit was in the lead when the final table commenced. Marin was breathing down his neck though. When there were 4 players left in contention, Van Der Fluit took a nasty hit and almost busted before completing a spectacular comeback.
Other notables to finish high in the Sunday Warm-up were Ben Pappas, who finished 8th for $5.6k, and Jesse McKenzie, who was 48th for $1.3k.
